Extensive smoke damage after Phoenix restaurant catches fire

PHOENIX - Crews are mopping up after a fire at a north central Phoenix restaurant.

Firefighters were called to the "Eye Opener" near 7th and Dunlap avenues after someone spotted the smoke.

Crews said flames were visible from outside the restaurant as they arrived.

They opened up the roof and knocked the fire down, but not before the business sustained extensive smoke damage.

The restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch so had closed Sunday afternoon.

Crews say the fire started in the kitchen.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
