PHOENIX - Investigators are working to figure out what started a fire at a north central Phoenix grocery store Thursday morning.
When firefighters arrived they found an obvious working fire at the MJ Minimart near 12th Avenue and Hatcher just before 4 a.m.
Phoenix Fire Department spokesman Larry Nunez said crews initially tried to fight the fire from inside the structure but were told to evacuate due to unsafe conditions.
Shortly after firefighters got out of the building, the roof collapsed.
None of the firefighters was injured.
Firefighters treated a man who was outside the burning building for a fractured leg.
Nunez said it is unclear right now what the man's relationship to the fire or the market is.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
