I-17 near Thunderbird Road reopens after several collisions

PHOENIX - Interstate 17 has reopened in north Phoenix.

Authorities said three separate collisions caused a complete closure of southbound Interstate 17 north of Thunderbird Road around 8:30 a.m.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Bart Graves said one of the vehicles involved was a commercial vehicle.

Around 9:45 a.m. the Arizona Department of Transportation said the HOV and left two lanes had reopened.

The remaining lanes had reopened by early afternoon.

No other details were made available.
