PHOENIX - Three people on a small plane escaped serious injury when it went off a runway and flipped over at a Phoenix airport Thursday morning.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said the Cessna 172 was taking off when the incident happened at Deer Valley Airport around 9:30 a.m.
Gregor said there was significant damage to the single-engine plane that flipped and landed upside down.
Video showed firefighters checking out three people next to the plane seen a few feet from a runway. A fire official said none of them needed medical attention.
There was no immediate word on what caused the plane to go off the runway and flip.
