1 dead, 1 injured after shooting, stabbing at North Phoenix home

PHOENIX - A man was pronounced dead after being shot during an altercation at a home near Cave Creek Road and East Desert Willow Parkway Friday night .

According to an update from Phoenix Police, officers responded to the home around 7:30 p.m. where they found the first victim, a 27-year-old, who died from a gunshot wound. A second victim, a 53-year-old man, was found with a stab wound, but is stable after being treated at the hospital.

Investigators believe a 29-year-old woman went to the home with the deceased victim where they met the stabbing victim and another 20-year-old man.

A fight somehow broke out between the two victims resulting in the 53-year-old being stabbed.

The 20-year-old man who was at the residence told police that he grabbed a gun and shot the 27-year-old victim in defense of the other resident, who had suffered a stab wound.

The man who was pronounced dead has been identified, but his name is not being released until family is notified.

Phoenix Police are still investigating the incident.
