Phoenix police: Woman shot in head after fight overnight

PHOENIX - Authorities are investigating the shooting death of a woman Saturday morning, according to Phoenix police.

Sgt. Steve Martos said the victim is 27 years old and that the incident happened near 16th Avenue and Camelback Road Friday evening.

Officers were called to the area after a woman was reportedly shot in the head by a man, according to Sgt. Buzpee, with Phoenix police.

The woman told police that she had been shot in the head. The victim was transported to a local hospital in extremely critical condition.

Witnesses reportedly told police that the man and woman were fighting prior to the shooting.

Police have not taken anyone into custody and not suspect description was provided.
