PHOENIX - Authorities say a fourth suspect is in custody in connection with an armed robbery that led to the shooting of a Phoenix police officer.
Phoenix Police Chief Daniel Garcia said William Herbert Mayes, 30, was arrested Tuesday night by the New York City Police Department.
Detectives had been looking to question Mayes about the Dec. 31 incident, which left both Officer Scott Sefranka and Maricopa County Sheriff's Office posse member Phillip Grigg hospitalized.
Garcia said during a Wednesday press conference that Sefranka has been released from the hospital. Grigg reportedly remains in critical but stable condition.
A robbery of $18,000 from two strip club employees in east Phoenix led to the New Year's Eve police chase and the wounding of Sefranka and Grigg.
