Warrants served on 5 Valley poker rooms for possible gaming violations

PHOENIX - A number of poker rooms in the Valley were busted by law enforcement agencies on Thursday.

Agents from the Arizona Department of Gaming, Maricopa County Attorney's Office, Phoenix Police Department, Department of Public Safety and Glendale Police Department served warrants at five locations around the Valley.

Jelena Momich with the Arizona Department of Gaming said in an statement that the raids were part of a combined effort to pursue concerns over alleged illegal gambling operations around Phoenix.

The locations included Pocket Rockets in Avondale, Cracked Aces in Glendale, AZ Poker Supply in Phoenix, Poker Play in Glendale, and Joker Social Club in Phoenix.

Momich said evidence collected suggests possible gaming violations including possession of gambling devices, benefiting from gambling, promotion of gambling and possession of gambling records.

Agents reportedly seized 11 poker tables and other gambling materials, thousands of poker chips, several televisions and surveillance equipment, computers, records and nearly $5,000 in cash.

Two people were arrested on unrelated charges and the investigation is ongoing, according to Momich.
