Waggin' Wheels Mobile Adoption Unit to set out to find homes for hundreds of animals

PHOENIX - The Arizona Humane Society is taking pet adoption to the road and throughout Valley malls with the new mobile pet adoption unit, Waggin' Wheels.

Waggin' Wheels is a 25-foot, 24-kennel, air-conditioned adoption unit that will travel throughout the Valley this summer in hopes of providing people with more opportunities to adopt animals.

The tour begins on Saturday, June 21 from 2 to 7 p.m. and its first stop is the Scottsdale Fashion Square. The adoption will include more than 20 pets as well as items from the Arizona Humane Society's store, Petique.

The mobile adoption unit allows adopters the ability to get onboard and walk around to see which pet will become their own. There is also a special meet-and-greet area for families and pets.

The tour is expected to adopt out an additional 600 pets each year because it will go to outlying Valley locations that may not have an adoption center nearby.
