PHOENIX - A day after police announced a "strong investigative lead" in a deadly home invasion, the victim's son speaks out, saying he is assured there will be justice for his father.
Sixty-seven year old David Cardoza was severely beaten in a home invasion at his house near 38th Street and Indian School on October 11th. Cardoza died last Friday, nearly a month later after the invasion.
"He was beaten up pretty bad," said his son Justin Cardoza.
Police say Angel Padilla is an investigative lead in the case. Padilla is wanted for a string of crimes . Last month, police say he opened fire on officers after attempting to kidnap his ex-wife.
"I'm tired of being afraid of this guy," said Cardoza.
Cardoza tells ABC15 that his father was a family man who also was a jazz musician here in the Valley, who used the stage name Dave Andrews.
Padilla is a suspect in a couple of other home invasions around the same time frame. He was released from prison in 2011 after serving 12 years for the death of a Glendale man.
