Valley family reunited with lost dog Dante

PHOENIX - A Valley family reunited with their lost dog Friday after he somehow ended up on Craigslist.

The 7-month-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier named Dante is back home with his Glendale family.

He disappeared from his backyard two weeks ago.

Dante was tagged, collared, and microchipped, but nowhere to be found.

After days searching the internet, his owners found Dante for sale on craigslist. But, they were told Dante had already been sold.

After ABC15 aired the family’s story Thursday, someone called to return him.

“The hope started to wane, but we're really grateful that the good came out in people and we were able to get him back,” said Stephen Rice, Dante’s owner.

"I'd just like to say thank you to all of our supporters and everybody who went on to the ABC15 website to like the story, to get it out there and to make sure there's awareness," Stephen said.

What's still unclear, is how the dog ended up for sale online.

But the family says they are just thrilled to have him home safe and sound.
