FD: Pets killed after fire breaks out at Phoenix home

PHOENIX - A Valley family lost as many as 10 pets after a fire broke out in the back of their Phoenix home Wednesday.

An official with the Phoenix Fire Department said an older couple lived in the home, near 20th Street and Union Hills, with their daughter and her husband.

Officials said the owners were not home at the time of the fire, but said there were a number of pets, including birds, cats and dogs.

Firefighters arrived and immediately started using Fido bags on the pets, however, most did not make it, an official said.

One of the women living there said that they had just recently rewire their electrical system.

Phoenix Fire said all the back bedrooms are destroyed.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. One woman reported that the home had its electrical recently redone.
