Valley families turning to prayer after shooting in Connecticut

PHOENIX - People in Arizona are turning to prayer in support of all the families who lost loved ones in Fridays shooting rampage in Newtown, Connecticut.

Corpus Christi Church in Phoenix is just one of the many places in town that people came to remember, and pray for the 26 innocent  lives that were lost.

Although hundreds are turning to prayer in hopes of a change in the future, this incident has left many parents deeply concerned about the security of schools in the Phoenix area.

"I'm just worried. What do we do with our kids? I feel like they are not safe anymore and we shouldn't have to worry about whether our kids are safe when we send them to school," said church-goer Kelly Knight.

Barbara and Jim Hunt understand the heartache Iosing a loved one unexpectedly. Their good friend lost a son in the recent movie theater shooting in aurora, Colorado. They said for them, the power of prayer and love is the only thing that can pull them through this kind of loss.

"All you can do is be there for one another, give each other hugs and show your support by attending mass. There is an evil in this world and I don't know if there's anything we can do about it," said Barbara hunt.
