Valley business 'Keep It Cut' offers free haircut if you spell word correctly

PHOENIX - The Scripps National Spelling Bee is officially underway, and people around the country are catching the fever. One Valley business is giving away a special prize that could spell F-R-E-E for some customers.

Jacob Meltzer and Josh Thorsvic recently opened “Keep It Cut” in Phoenix. The store offers a unique monthly payment option for unlimited haircuts. The two owners are used to different ways to pay, so they came up with a new promotion where customers might not have to.

This week “Keep it Cut” is offering a free haircut to those who can spell a word correctly that is given to them. The choice of words is from an official beginners level spelling bee guide.

”I think it’s a fun quirky random deal that’s fun and I think it takes people back to their younger days,” said owner Jacob Meltzer.

Jacob and Josh both grew up together and were in a 6th grade spelling bee.

The two have always been big fans of academic challenges, so they find this promotion fitting to their personalities.
