PHOENIX - A national cable television network is developing a new drama series based on Phoenix's kidnapping enforcement unit.
The show is titled "H.I.K.E.," named after the Phoenix Police Department Home Invasion Kidnapping Enforcement unit.
According to TVGuide.com , the show, produced and written by actor Forest Whitaker, would "follow tough female cop Maggie Tarrant as she runs a Phoenix-based law enforcement team while simultaneously juggling her home life as a wife and mother."
Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Steve Martos turned down an interview request. Instead, the department released a written statement.
"The television program you address in your email does not involve the Phoenix Police Department, its employees, or its facilities," the statement said. "It is the understanding of the Phoenix Police Department this series is fictional in nature and does not utilize any current or former Phoenix Police investigations or investigators."
