PHOENIX - Interstate 10 is back open near Buckeye Road after a semi-truck overturned and caused major traffic delays Wednesday morning.
Air15 video showed the truck lying on its side across several lanes of the freeway with debris spread around.
For several hours, only one lane was able to get past the scene near the Interstate 17 junction.
The Department of Public Safety says the injury accident happened around 6:10 a.m.
Officials said a car driving in the emergency lane was trying to merge back into traffic when the driver of the big rig tried to avoid a crash, lost control of his vehicle and flipped over.
The driver of the semi-truck escaped with just a few scratches, but there were some tense moments while he was trapped inside the cab. He was able to get out the back of the cab, he told ABC15.
Officials say two other cars hit the semi and two people were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The semi was turned upright and then workers began the task of picking 70,000 pounds of mulch off the roadway .
The freeway re-opened around 11 a.m.
