PHOENIX, AZ - An icy spot on a Phoenix road sent an SUV crashing into a car dealership Tuesday, leaving thousands of dollars worth of damage.
Ice and slush on the road are things you expect to find in the middle of winter in the high country, not in the middle of Phoenix, but Tuesday morning, that's exactly what drivers in the Valley had to deal with -- some better than others.
The employees of Courtesy Chevrolet near 12th Street and Camelback witnessed first hand the damage these dangerous driving conditions can cause.
A driver in a Chevrolet Trailblazer slammed into the side of the car dealership's showroom. This after Phoenix police say he was driving too fast for the road conditions.
The SUV slid on the ice and slammed into a brand new Corvette and Camaro before hitting the showroom.
One Courtesy Chevrolet employee was sitting in a desk right next to where the SUV crashed. He was transported to the hospital but is expected to be OK.
The car dealership's owner Mark Gruwell says he is thankful that both his employee and the driver of the SUV are OK. However, they have a long clean-up ahead and a big repair bill.
Gruwell estimates that the $75,000 Corvette was totaled. This loss, along with the damage done to the Camaro and building could add up to near $150,000 worth of damage.
