PHOENIX - Diamondbacks fans got a special treat Saturday as the Diamondbacks hosted its Fanfest celebration at Chase Field.
The event drew some 25 thousand people to the stadium. It featured fun activities for the kids, and chance to meet some current and former players.
Some people stood in line as early as 5:30 a.m. to get autographs. Even some Dodgers fans made the trip to get some key autographs.
Among the D-backs players scheduled to attend included Heath Bell, Willie Bloomquist, Eric Chavez, Josh Collmenter, Patrick Corbin, Adam Eaton, Paul Goldschmidt, David Hernandez, Aaron Hill, Eric Hinske, Daniel Hudson, Ian Kennedy, Jason Kubel, Brandon McCarthy, John McDonald, Wade Miley, Miguel Montero, Wil Nieves, Cliff Pennington, A.J. Pollock, Martin Prado, J.J. Putz, Cody Ross, Tyler Skaggs and Brad Ziegler.
Luis Gonzalez and several other former D-backs players and coaches also attended the event.
This year also featured the first-ever D-backs Race Against Cancer, presented by the University of Arizona Cancer Center at St. Joseph's and the University of Arizona College of Medicine Phoenix, prior to FanFest.
The race though the streets of downtown Phoenix started and ended at Chase Field. Proceeds from the 5K run benefit the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation and will be distributed to Arizona non-profits that provide screening, treatment and support for those dealing with cancer.
