PHOENIX - A popular Phoenix intersection was shut down for about an hour Monday while the Phoenix bomb squad investigated a suspicious backpack found in the area.
People are on a heightened sense of alert after the deadly Boston Marathon bombings last week.
The latest scare involved a bright colored bag hanging from a fire hydrant near 44th Street and McDowell Road.
The backpack was found around noon, the same time people across the country paused to remember the victims of last week's bombings.
The bomb squad inspected the bag and said they found clothes inside. But at the time, it was suspicious enough to catch someone's eye who called 911.
There have been a couple of false calls in the past week, but law enforcement still encourages the public to call 911 if they see something suspicious.
