PHOENIX - Authorities say a suspect is in custody in connection with at least four bank robberies in the downtown Phoenix area since last month.
Phoenix police say 60-year-old John Timothy Miller has been booked into jail on suspicion of several counts of bank robbery.
They say Miller was arrested in 1988 for robbing 11 banks across multiple states.
After being released, police say Miller also was arrested in 1999 for 16 bank robberies in the Phoenix metro area.
Police detectives and a FBI task force began surveillance on downtown Phoenix banks and saw the suspect park his bicycle and enter a bank on Monday.
They say Miller allegedly presented a demand note to a teller and was arrested as he was leaving the bank.
It's unclear if he has lawyer yet.
