Smoke reported at Phoenix Holiday Inn

PHOENIX - Firefighters responded to a Phoenix hotel after a fire ignited in the hotel’s vending machines Monday morning.

Scott Walker with the Phoenix Fire Department said there was a report of smoke on the 5th floor of the Holiday Inn near State Route 143 and University.

Jonathan Jacobs with the Phoenix Fire Department said the fire began in the vending machines and sprinklers extinguished the flames.

Walker said there was a report of a person with disabilities on the 4th floor who needed help evacuating the hotel.

No one was transported to the hospital, according to Jacobs.
