PHOENIX - Authorities say a third suspect is in custody and they're searching for a fourth man in connection with an armed robbery that led to the shooting of a Phoenix police officer.
Police announced Friday that 35-year-old Jason Beau Keep is being held on suspicion to commit armed robbery. Detectives are looking to question 30-year-old William Herbert Mayes in the case.
A robbery of $18,000 from two strip club employees Tuesday in east Phoenix led to a police chase and the wounding of an officer and a 63-year-old Maricopa County Sheriff's Office posse member.
Police say 34-year-old Officer Scott Sefranka had been in critical condition, but is showing signs of improvement.
The family of the sheriff's posse member haven't released his name and police don't have an update on his condition.
Phoenix police originally said Tuesday they were looking for up to four more suspects including two women.
As of Friday afternoon, police said they were searching for Mayes, but did not mention other suspects.
Sgt. Tommy Thompson said the investigation is ongoing.
Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Mayes is encouraged to contact the Phoenix Police Department at 602-262-6141 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS OR 480-TESTIGO for Spanish.
