Salvador Garcia-Sanchez pleads not guilty to stabbing wife to death

PHOENIX - A man accused of stabbing and killing his wife in October in their north Phoenix home has plead not guilty, according to a court spokesperson.

Salvador Garcia-Sanchez plead not guilty on the charges of first degree murder and kidnapping charges. He is due in court on January 2nd.

Police said Garcia-Sanchez, 31, got into an argument with his 41-year-old wife, Maria Gonzalez, in October and the fight turned physical.

He was arrested after he was released from the hospital, police said.

Garcia-Sanchez allegedly began stabbing his wife who tried to get away but collapsed outside their home near Cave Creek Road and Greenway Parkway, police said.

The couple has three children together, in addition to the five Gonzalez has from previous relationships, police said.

According to authorities, all the children were home during the attack and some tried to stop the fight.

Police said Gonzalez was taken to a local hospital where she died due to her injuries.

Garcia-Sanchez was also injured and placed under medical care before he was taken into custody.

Police said he was out on bond from I.C.E. for possible illegal immigration into the U.S.
