PHOENIX - Closing arguments are set for Monday in the trial of a former Phoenix police officer accused of murder.
Richard Chrisman shot and killed Daniel Rodriguez while on a domestic violence call in 2010.
Chrisman claims he shot the victim because he feared for his safety when Rodriguez picked up a bicycle and tried to hit him with it.
Chrisman's partner on the call, Sergio Virgillo, testified Rodriguez had his hands in the air and was backing away when Chrisman shot him.
The jury could begin its deliberations as early as Monday after closing arguments wrap up and they receive their jury instructions.
