PHOENIX - A man who pleaded guilty to sexual conduct with a child was sentenced Friday to 24 years in prison.
Ricardo Torres Marquez also faces lifetime probation after his release.
Phoenix police said in November 2011 that Marquez got into an apartment near 75th Avenue and McDowell Road through a window and molested a young girl before trying to carry her out the front door.
Family members woke up and the girl's parents and grandmother were able to hold on to Marquez until police could arrive.
He pleaded guilty to sexual conduct with a minor and two counts of attempt to commit molestation of a child.
Police said there were several siblings in the same room as the victim but it was not believed they were molested by Marquez.
The family said they did not know the suspect.
