Rescued pet fox find permanent home at Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center

PHOENIX, AZ - A baby fox, with a blue collar and bell, that was found behind a chicken coop in Phoenix, is now in the care of an animal sanctuary.

The Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center received a call about a little animal hiding in a coop and took in the 7-week-old gray fox kit named "Frank."

According to wildlife officials, the fox looks "a bit different" than most gray foxes his age because of a poor diet.

The conservation center said they don't know whether the fox's owners found the fox or purchased him. However, they do believe that Frank was being kept as a pet. They assume the fox escaped.

Officials said that the fox is unafraid of people, dogs and cats so it cannot be released back into the wild. He will become a permanent resident at the Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center.
