Even if you are an Arizona native, these temperatures can hit hard. So, before we hit those triple digits, ABC15 spent the day with a personal trainer.

Jess Maney with Y Fit Fitness said you should be preparing to exercise outdoors 24 hours in advance. That means hydrating with both water and electrolytes.

"So, the preparation with the water that your drinking before or the day before is pretty much what you're going to run on today," Maney explained. "The water we drank yesterday is what we're using today."

Maney said there is a lot of confusion when it comes to just how much water to drink.

"We know, we go that 8...8-ounce glasses a day," Maney said. "Well, we live in Arizona — that's probably not going to work."

Maney tells his fitness clients to figure out how much 60 percent of their body weight is and that is how much water they should be drinking in ounces per day.

But, while many out today near Guadalupe and Greenfield in Gilbert were not doing strenuous activity, they were not very prepared either.

"The sun is so hot! It's like blazing down on you all the time," said Kate Simmons.

Simmons and her family just moved to Arizona from Michigan. They said they have never experienced heat like this and they know it is only going to get worse.

"At least I brought my sunglasses; water," Simmons laughed. "Definitely is a major thing to bring!"
