Police: Motorcyclist Jesse Wade Bartman, 27, killed after colliding with van in Phoenix

PHOENIX - Police have identified a motorcyclist killed after colliding with a van in Phoenix Tuesday.

According to Officer James Holmes with the Phoenix Police Department, 27-year-old Jesse Wade Bartman was traveling eastbound in the area of 7th Street and Deer Valley Road on a 2011 Kawasaki motorcycle.

Bartman then collided with a 2004 Ford E350 van that turned left onto the roadway, failing to yield to the oncoming traffic around 4:30 p.m., according to police.

Bartman was transported to the hospital to be treated, but he later succumbed to his injuries.

Bartman was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Police evaluated the driver of the van and determined that she was not impaired. She was uninjured in the collision.

Phoenix police do not believe that speed was a factor in the collision, though in-attention and failure to yield may have been factors.

The driver's charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing.
