PHOENIX - Phoenix police on Tuesday morning investigated a suspicious device found in a central Phoenix neighborhood.
When police arrived to the vacant home at 18th Avenue and Polk Road just after 9:30 a.m they found a "hoax" device.
Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump said the item was made to look like a real explosive device, with a battery and wires coming from the device itself.
The bomb squad came in with a robot and was able to render the device safe.
Police were first alerted to the suspicious device after a man cleaning the vacant home noticed it behind the house.
