PHOENIX - Phoenix police announced a crime sweep at a motel in downtown Phoenix Wednesday morning.
Called Operation Hurricane, a number of search warrants were served at the motel near 7th and Grand avenues around 6:30 a.m.
Police say individuals staying at the motel had been committing crimes in the area for some time, including weapons violations and drug sales.
Officers from the Phoenix Police Department South Mountain Precinct and the Gang Enforcement Unit were joined by the Arizona Department of Public Safety GITEM Team and the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office to stop the crime.
No other details were released.
There will be a 3 p.m. news conference to provide more details on the operation.
