PHOENIX, AZ - Phoenix police have arrested a man who allegedly tried to kidnap a 3-year-old girl.
Sgt. Steve Martos said police were called to the area of 18th Street and McDowell Road on Thursday night after a report of a man trying to kidnap a girl playing in her grandmother's front yard.
Police say the 3-year-old girl was with her 1-year-old sibling when she was grabbed by the suspect.
"I went inside to get a phone call, and I saw through my window a man trying to take my granddaughter," said Magdalena Flores.
Martos said the grandmother observed the suspect grab and inappropriately touch the 3-year-old girl. When Flores went outside that is when the suspect fled on foot.
"It was so scary. The man looked drunk or on drugs and I tried calling police," she said.
Officers were given a description of the suspect while en-route to the scene, and located 30-year-old Raul Issac Molina who was attempting to flee the area, Martos said.
Police interviewed Molina and he admitted to his involvement. Molina was booked on child molestation, attempted kidnapping, and criminal trespassing.
