PHOENIX - Welcome to Phoenix, MacLeod!
The Phoenix Zoo announced Wednesday that it received the Komodo dragon last month from the San Antonio Zoo.
Linda Hardwick, spokesman for the zoo, said the 6-year-old lizard can be seen in the Land of the Dragons habitat.
She said the Komodo dragon has been exploring his new surroundings, watching guests who are looking at him, and even went for a swim in his pond.
Last September, two of the zoo's Komodo dragons--Ivan and Gaia--died due to "multiple age-related conditions," according to Paula Swanson, manager of ectotherms.
Guests can see two of the zoo's juvenile Komodo dragons, and a Chinese alligator, at the Land of the Dragons habitat.
