PHOENIX - Authorities say a Phoenix towing and automobile repair company is facing $590,000 in civil penalties for deceptive business practices.
The Arizona Attorney General's Office said Thursday that a court commissioner ordered Sun Valley Towing to pay almost $68,000 in restitution to customers.
State prosecutors sued Sun Valley Towing after authorities received 59 customer complaints.
Customers claimed the company failed to make promised repairs, kept their vehicles for months or years, returned the vehicles stripped of parts in the same or worse mechanical condition, and lied about their vehicle's status and supposed refunds.
The court also issued a permanent injunction prohibiting Sun Valley Towing from engaging in auto repair, tow operations, vehicle repair, vehicle sales and vehicle service. A call to Sun Valley Towing for comment wasn't immediately returned Thursday afternoon.
