PHOENIX - Monsoon storms have hit parts of Arizona for the third consecutive day, delaying flights and leaving plenty of residents with serious clean-up to do.
The thunderstorm dumped heavy rain and penny-sized hail over parts of the Phoenix metropolitan area Tuesday afternoon as multiple cells collided over the Valley. The consistent monsoon action has left flooded roadways and downed trees over the last several days.
A spokesman for Arizona Public Service confirmed that as of 5:15 p.m., power has been restored to about 1,800 customers who were hit by an outage Tuesday afternoon. Tuesday's was the latest in a string of outages spurred by the stormy conditions.
Officials at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport also said there were delays of up to 30 minutes for some plane departures as a precaution.
