PHOENIX - Police have made an arrest and identified the victim of a deadly hit-and-run accident that happened in North Phoenix overnight.
Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump said the male victim was walking along a path north of Deer Valley Road on 27th Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle that left the roadway.
The victim has been identified as 20-year-old Jacob Rice.
Crump said police have arrested Rice's current girlfriend as a suspect. He did not release her name.
Crump said the suspect left the accident scene without calling police or stopping to render aid.
She will be booked into jail on one count of leaving the scene of a fatal collision.
Early Saturday evening, Crump said detectives had obtained a search warrant for the vehicle involved in the collision.
It was being towed from an apartment complex in the area of the accident.
Crump said investigators are still conducting interviews and more information would be made available on Sunday.
