Phoenix police: Authorities identify victim found shot to death in vehicle as Leoncio Larranaga

PHOENIX - Authorities have identified the victim found shot in his car Thursday evening as a 33-year-old man.

Sgt. Tommy Thompson, spokesman for the Phoenix Police Department, said Leoncio Larranaga suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital where he died.

Police identified him Friday afternoon.

Witnesses told police there were two vehicles near 33rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road at the time of the shooting. One of the vehicles is a white Ford Lightning truck and the other is a white Chevy Tahoe.

Police said the Tahoe has silver or black trim strip on it and may have large custom wheels.

It is unknown if either vehicles are involved in the incident.
