Phoenix police are trading in the lights and sirens for something a little "cooler".

This weekend, Phoenix Police Department is unveiling the Phoenix Police Ice Cream Truck with its first stop being at Lindo Park's Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods (or G.A.I.N.) event

Courtesy Chevrolet donated the vehicle, which now dawns a Phoenix police logo and ice cream treat illustrations.

Other police agencies around the country have similar ice cream truck programs, and Phoenix hopes it will offer more opportunities to engage with the community personally.

If you want to enjoy one of Phoenix Police Ice Cream Truck's first treats, head out to Lindo Park at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20.

Lindo Park is located near 19th and Southern avenues.

The G.A.I.N. events are free to the public and allow police and community members to get involved with each other. For more information, click here
