PHOENIX - A 5-year-old boy died at his Phoenix home Monday after he was crushed by the family's television set.
Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump said the boy's mother and grandmother went to check on him for lunch and found him under the TV.
The boy had been alone in his room for two hours watching TV when the accident happened, according to Crump.
Police said the television was an older and heavier model sitting on top of a small stand, and did not appear to be anchored to the wall. It is unclear at this time what caused the set to fall.
The boy's aunt and uncle were also home at the time.
Crump said the incident serves as a reminder for parents to keep television sets properly anchored around children.
