PHOENIX - Police say the second officer wounded in a shooting Monday has been released from the hospital.
Det. Albert "AJ" Casados, 37, is "expected to make a full recovery," said Phoenix Police Chief Daniel Garcia in a Wednesday afternoon news conference.
Casados and his partner, Det. John Hobbs, were both shot Monday near 43rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road.
The suspect who shot them died at the scene.
Hobbs also died due to his injuries.
Casados was shot once on the right side of his body and underwent surgery. He was initially listed in critical but stable condition.
Garcia said he was released from the hospital Wednesday morning.
Casados is an "outstanding officer" who has been with the department for nine years, according to Garcia.
He has been a part of the Major Offenders Bureau for the last three years.
He is a former Border Patrol agent and Marine.
