PHOENIX - Mayor Greg Stanton and Phoenix police Chief Daniel Garcia briefed the public on Friday after the tragedy in Newtown, CT.
Mayor Stanton said, "this is a tragedy that affects all of America."
Stanton, who is a father himself, said, we are all angry about what happened and there will be a lot of soul searching in America after this tragedy.
Chief Garcia told Phoenicians to be aware of what is going on around your neighborhood. He said, "When you see something, you have to say something. We have to be vigilant."
Phoenix police will be more visible around schools in the coming weeks, Garcia said.
Garcia stated that Phoenix police are prepared for an incident of this magnitude, and that he has encouraged all of his officers to know the areas around their schools and the administrators at the schools.
