Phoenix man, 70, on scooter dies after being hit by jeep in north Phoenix

PHOENIX - A Phoenix man died Tuesday afternoon after he was hit while attempting to cross a road on his motorized scooter, according to Phoenix police.

The 70-year-old man was attempting to cross eastbound at the intersection of Cave Creek and Sweetwater roads when he was struck by a southbound Jeep Cherokee.

The man was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

The driver of the Jeep was not injured and authorities said impairment does not appear to be a factor.

The investigation is ongoing.
