PHOENIX - Phoenix announced Thursday that it wants to host the 2016 Republican National Convention, according to the Phoenix Business Journal .
The city has bid several times, but has yet to actually host a GOP convention. Former U.S. Senator Jon Kyl will chair the 2016 Host Committee in pursuit of the RNC. As part of his position, Kyl will be getting in touch with business leaders and hopes to involve politicians from both the Republican and Democratic parties.
Other cities who announced their bids are Las Vegas, Kansas city, Denver, New Orleans and Columbus, Ohio.
