PHOENIX - Officials say a Phoenix home is a "total loss" after a massive fire Tuesday afternoon.
Phoenix Fire Captain Ruben Saavedra, spokesman for Phoenix Fire Department, the fire started around 3:35 p.m. near 27th Street and Bell Road.
Crews arrived to find the house completely engulfed in flames with some as high as 30 feet into the air, said Saavedra.
Crews were able to protect a detached garage, as well as a fifth-wheel travel trailer, he said.
While firefighters were battling the blaze, the structure collapsed sending "a massive cloud of radiant heat" to surrounding areas, said Saavedra. Some plastic components of a nearby fire truck were damaged.
Three people have been displaced due to the fire and are being assisted by the Phoenix Fire Crisis Team.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
