Phoenix Home Depot shooting: Police identify suspect as Adrian Ayiers

PHOENIX - Police have identified the suspect who was shot and killed when trying to rob a man Monday in front of a Home Depot in west Phoenix.

According to Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump, the suspect's name was Adrian Ayiers.

The shooting happened around 3 p.m. in the store parking lot near 99th Avenue and Camelback Road.

The two victims, a 20-year-old male and 21-year-old male, arrived together to sell merchandise to a known person, Crump said.

Ayiers then showed up in a vehicle and walked up to them in the parking lot, Crump said.

Ayiers allegedly pulled out a gun and tried to rob the two victims, according to police.

One of the victims then pulled out his own weapon and shot Ayiers, who Crump said was taken to a hospital and later died.

Police said the victim who shot Ayiers claimed self-defense.
