PHOENIX, AZ - Two parents who just relocated their family to the Valley from Vietnam is mourning the loss of their son who drowned in a neighbor's swimming pool.
The family of 10-year-old Tu Bui tells ABC15 their son took off his "floaties'" and jumped in the pool.
Tu sank to the bottom of the pool and his family claims he stayed there for more than eight minutes before anybody noticed.
The Bui family just moved to Phoenix back in May.
On Saturday, September 1st, Tu went to a friend's birthday party at the home across the street.
His parents got a call around 2:30 in the afternoon that paramedics were rushing their son to the hospital after he was found unresponsive.
Tu remained on life support until Wednesday when his parents decided to let their son go.
In the home they're staying at near 29th Avenue and Greenway they've created a memorial to their son.
Tu's parents don't speak English but through a translator they told ABC15 they miss their son dearly.
"They helped Tu come to the United States to become a good student, a good person and to study for his future," said Tu's aunt, Tina Bui. "Now that this happened, they're really, really sad."
The funeral service for Tu is scheduled for Monday night.
Tu's family was already struggling financially and his death has put another strain on their finances.
