This classroom in Phoenix is a long way from New York City. But it's here where the Phoenix Children's Chorushas been practicing, getting ready for one of its biggest concerts ever.

"I'm singing in Carnegie Hall. There's not a lot more you can do," says chorus member Kevin Sharpe.

This will be Sharpe's first time to New York City and his first time on an airplane. The 17-year-old joined the chorus three years ago after hearing them in concert.

"I could just feel it," says Sharpe. "I could just feel the unity in the room."

It's that type of passion the chorus plans to take to the Big Apple, about 2,500 miles from Phoenix.

"Singing together in every single culture on the planet is something that always brings people together," says Ron Carpenter, the group's artistic director.

More than 100 students will perform seven songs in Carnegie Hall. Some of them needing some financial help to do it so their fundraising to make it happen. It's the experience though that's priceless.

"Music is like the native tongue of humans, of all of us," says Sharpe.
