PHOENIX - Authorities say a 48-year-old Valley track coach is behind bars after admitting to police he had sexual relations with a 17-year-old female student.
Phoenix police spokesman James Holmes said officers were notified of the situation after the victims' friends logged onto her Facebook page and found sexually explicit messages between the victim and her coach, Bo Reed.
Holmes said the victims' friends told their parents who then notified authorities.
Police said detectives contacted the victim who admitted to authorities she had sexual contact with Reed, and that she and Reed had exchanged sexually explicit messages.
Holmes said on Saturday, March 22, Reed was arrested in Chandler by Phoenix police. According to Holmes, Reed admitted to several incidents of sexual contact and exchanging sexually explicit texts with the 17-year-old victim.
Authorities said Reed was booked into jail and is facing eight counts of sexual conduct with a minor and luring a minor for sexual exploitation charges.
Police are not saying what school the victim attended.
