PHOENIX - A teen driver went to the hospital with minor injuries after crashing into a Phoenix home Thursday afternoon.
Phoenix police Sgt. James Joyner said the unlicensed 16-year-old girl sideswiped a pickup truck near 11th Avenue and Thomas Road around 3:20 p.m. then drove away when the light turned green.
Joyner said a passenger in the pickup truck suffered minor injuries, but the driver was not injured.
The teen driver lost control of the SUV as she tried to turn from Thomas Road onto 8th Avenue and crashed into the front entryway of a home.
Joyner said a man and woman were in the home at the time but weren't hurt.
Joyner said the teen suffered very minor injuries and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
According to Joyner, the teen faces charges in both crashes, including leaving the scene of an accident.
In addition, Joyner said it's unclear if the girl's mother gave her permission to drive the SUV and if she did, the mother could face a charge of permitting an unauthorized minor to drive.
