PHOENIX - Authorities say a man in police custody escaped while at the Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix Sunday morning.
Phoenix police spokesman Tommy Thompson said Wadsworth Jennings was taken to the Medical Center Sunday near 20th Street and Roosevelt for an undisclosed illness.
Thompson said Jennings escaped when an officer who was guarding him went to use the restroom.
Police said Jennings was arrested Friday on marijuana related charges and was found to be using more than a dozen aliases.
The name he gave arresting officers was Wadsworth Jennings.
Police are still searching for Jennings. Authorities said he is described as a black male, around 5 feet, 5 inches tall with a thin build.
Thompson said he is not considered a violent criminal.
