PD: Stolen vehicle crashes in Phoenix, causes power outage

PHOENIX - Phoenix police have one person in custody after allegedly crashing a stolen car and causing a power outage Thursday morning.

According to Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos, the subject in the stolen vehicle bailed from the car near 14th Street and Northern Avenue but was detained shortly after by a K9 officer.

The vehicle was stolen from the area of 12th Street and Maryland, Martos said. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle the driver failed to yield. Officers did not chase after the vehicle.

The vehicle crashed into APS equipment, which caused the power outage.

There is no word on how many homes are without power.
